McKenna: "A Fair Result"
Altrincham assistant manager Ken McKenna felt either side could have won last night's match so a 0-0 draw was "a fair result".
McKenna, former manager of Welsh Premier League side TNS and Gary Brabin's chief scout last season, said after the match, "We have to be careful on away trips, especially the midweek ones, what with us being part-time.
"We can't go out and be fully adventurous and we have to make sure we keep it tight at the back, but I think everyone who has played us this year will know that we also contain a threat when we go forward and we do try and play a bit of football.
"This season we've had a great start but have lost one or two players through injury and lost our way a little bit through that, but I think we came here and played our part in a good game."
It is the second time Altrincham have come to the Abbey and ground out a 0-0 draw, although McKenna acknowledged that both sides had chances to win the game.
"The lads have defended well and Cambridge played some good football at times and so did we, and I thought for a nil-nil it was a good game.
"Possibly in the end we could have nicked all three points with the late one-on-one chance, but a draw was the fair result and it would have been a little bit harsh on Cambridge if we had nicked it. But it would have been nice if it had gone in!"
