Ling to Miss Second Match

Posted on: Tue 08 Sep 2009

Martin Ling will miss tonight's match at home to Altrincham due to the bug that forced him to miss Saturday's home win.

The U's boss is still laid low with a debilitating virus that began to affect him at the end of last week and has been confined to his bed for the last few days.

"Martin has been hit by a really bad virus; he's lost over half a stone in weight and he's been signed off by the doctor for the rest of the week," confirmed Director of Football Jez George.

"If it was physically possible for him to get here wild horses wouldn't keep him away, but Martin is in daily contact with myself and Paul Carden.

"The team are on a decent run and with a clean bill of health regarding injuries Paul and I can keep things ticking over until he is fit to return.

"I'm sure he'll be listening tonight and he's asked me to call him straight after the game," added Jez.  "We've talked through everything that happened on Saturday in detail so he's keeping on top of things and we're hopeful that he will be fit enough to be back in the dug out for Saturday's match."
