Commencing his third season at Cambridge United under his third manager, Danny Potter is looking forward to a period of stability.
Having seen Gary Brabin sacked, Martin Ling appointed then resigning within eight days citing "irreconcilable differences" with former chairman George Rolls, and then Rolls himself standing down a day later, it was a pre-season like no other at United.
A week later, Ling returned as manager one game into the season and Potter said, "We're all glad he has, because what he's shown already in training and the man-management side of things has been fantastic. We're glad to have it all settled down now and hopefully we can pick up."
Until this week Ling had limited time to work with the players in training due to the number of games, but Danny pointed out some changes in training since the new manager took over: "He has different views and training is very different.
"The sessions are short and sharp and he likes everything to be at a high tempo, but he's also ready to slow things down and explain to the players what he wants and how he wants to play."
Potter, who suffered double Play-off heartbreak last season when he was ruled out of the final by a knee injury and had to watch as United suffered a second Wembley defeat, added, "It's still early days and I don't think some of his ideas have come to fruition yet but they will over a few more weeks.

"This week has been good because we haven't had a midweek game so we had extra time on the training ground, and given time he will get us playing exactly as he wants us to.
"I'd like to think we'll be OK this year and if we can take the manager's ideas on board - and he's managed and been successful at a lot higher level - I don't see why we can't be successful in this league and go one better than last year."
