Jez George, Director of Youth Football who will assist Paul Carden from the dugout for Saturday's match at home to Barrow, has debunked rumours that there was conflict between former manager Martin Ling and player-assistant Carden.
Rumours on an unofficial Conference forum, led by someone purporting to be a former director, stated that 'disagreements' between Ling and Carden contributed to Ling's departure.
Asked about the rumours at the pre-match press conference today, Jez George totally refuted any suggestion of a strained relationship between Carden and Ling, who resigned after just eight days due to 'irreconcilable differences' with former chairman George Rolls.
"There is categorically, absolutely no truth in that rumour at all," Jez stated. "After all that has happened there are a few people who can hold their heads up high and have conducted themselves with absolute honesty and integrity throughout, and one of those is Paul Carden.
"To suggest otherwise is completely wrong. I was in the company of Martin and Paul for several of the days that they were together and there were no issues whatsoever. Martin was happy working with Paul and the rumour almost gains credibility by commenting on it, but there is just no truth in it whatsoever."
Quizzed too about the appointment of a manager, Jez confirmed the statement issued by the Board earlier today.
"Paul Barry is coming over and we'll be having a board meeting on Monday. What we've got to try to do in the meantime is get a handle on things and we'll have one or two people to help us do that, then we'll see exactly where the club is.
"What we need at the moment is to understand exactly where the club is, be understated, keep out of the press, sort out the problems that are evident to everybody and deal with them as a Board, and that doesn't have to be played out in the press. That can be done quietly and behind closed doors within the next few days.
"As the statement said, the process of appointing a manager needs to go on hold until we know the financial situation within the club. The club has to sort itself out first before a manager can be appointed. Everything has happened so quickly in the last 24 hours, it would be remiss of me to discuss who it might be and when it might happen.

"The first thing we have to do is get hold of things at the club, and Paul (Carden) has been absolutely magnificent throughout this whole process. This is the second time it's happened and it was bad enough the first time."
He added, "We understand the quicker this can be sorted out the better, but it needs to be sorted out properly rather than just quickly so that's what we're trying to achieve. We will take stock first and the process will start once we know where we are, and the quicker that process can be completed obviously the better for everyone."
