Pre-season concludes this evening with the Cambs Professional Cup Final at home to Histon (7.45pm).

With the league season getting underway on Saturday, Martin Ling will use tonight's game to have an extended look at some of the players who still need match time as well as the up-and-coming youngsters.

Midfielder Sam Ives (pictured) scored for United's youth team in their 2-1 home defeat to Blackburn under-18s on Friday and he will be joined in tonight's team by fellow first year pros Adam Marriott and Jordan Patrick.

But with the Barrow game looming large, Ling is reluctant to risk first team players in tonight's match and after Saturday's win at St. Ives he said, "For some of the lads pre-season is over and it's about building for next week.

"Some of the lads will be playing, but this game comes at the wrong time in pre-season with our first match on Saturday so we'll put out a team that will be competitive, but with not many seniors."

He is aware of the local rivalry that has developed between the two clubs, especially in the last couple of seasons, and he added, "I'm sure that will add to the atmosphere at the game today.

"I know John Beck from previous times when he was here, and I know what they're about. I saw them live a couple of times last year in Conference games at Stevenage and Grays and they have a certain approach, but even though it's my first game against the local rivals the big one will be the first time we play them in the league.

"We're looking forward to it but the biggest game for us this week is Barrow on Saturday," he confirmed.

"The start of the season is looming large and everyone is excited by it, so when it comes to team selection today I will have an eye on Saturday's match too."

Admission prices are adults £10, concessions £7 and £5 for under-16s. The Main Stand and Newmarket Road End will be open to home fans, the South Stand for Histon fans.
