Lee Phillips damaged knee ligaments in Saturday's match against West Ham and will miss the opening stages of the season.
The striker had to be stretchered off just ten minutes after coming on during the second half, following a challenge from young Hammers defender Jack Lampe. After allowing his knee to settle, he had an MRI scan yesterday and the results will confirm the extent of the injury.
Physio Greg Reid was able to confirm that there is a "significant" injury to Lee's medial ligament. If the injury is confined to his medial ligament then his knee will be braced and surgery will not be required, but investigations are ongoing and if there is any other associated injury then an appointment will be made for Lee to see a specialist to arrange surgery.
When there is definitive news we will report further.
Defender Anthony Tonkin is making good progress with the groin injury that has ruled him out of all but the first 22 minutes of this pre-season.
Withdrawn as a precaution halfway through the first half at Ely City, further investigations on his diverse symptoms using both MRI and Ultrasound showed that he had torn a tendon in his adductor muscle.

Anthony had an injection into the muscle under ultrasound guidance and he will undergo controlled rehabilitation for the next 7-10 days before starting to run again and hopefully progressing back into full training.
In the meantime he is working on strength and aerobic fitness so he is as prepared as possible when he returns.
Greg added, "It's taken a lot of time and effort to correctly diagnose the exact problem and we're confident that we have the exact site of the problem."
