Liverpool XI Fixture Confirmed

Posted on: Mon 15 Jun 2009

Cambridge United can confirm another pre-season friendly match for next month.

A Liverpool XI will visit the newly renamed R Costings Abbey Stadium on Tuesday 28th July, kick-off 7.45pm. Liverpool are the second Premiership club to commit to sending an 'eleven' for our pre-season campaign, while another top flight side, Blackburn Rovers, are bringing their full first team squad for a match in what will be a competitive pre-season build-up.

It has also been confirmed today that the final of the Cambs Professional Cup against Histon will take place at the R Costings Abbey Stadium on Monday 3rd August at 7.45pm.

There is also a change to one of our early friendly fixtures. On Wednesday 8th July we will play at Cherry Hinton FC instead of St Ives Town, as part of the "100 Years of Cherry Hinton" celebrations. Defender Josh Coulson and chairman George Rolls both played for Cherry Hinton Lions in previous years, and over a third of our support comes from that area so the club is happy to support their centenary year.

The match against St Ives Town is likely to be rescheduled to Saturday 1st August, subject to confirmation.

Details of ticket prices for our four home games will follow later this week.
