With his side trailing 1-0, Courtney Pitt came off the bench midway through Saturday's game and helped to turn the game.
First he delivered a pinpoint corner for Lee Phillips to head home his first U's goal on his home debut, then fellow sub Chris Holroyd won and converted a penalty to clinch the win.
"We played well in the first half, creating lots of chances, and were unlucky to go in nil-nil. It was even more so to go a goal down, but we had all the play and played really well, just lacking the final touch to put the ball in.
"All I want to do is be out there on the pitch so to set up a goal with my first touch is pleasing, but that's what I'm on the pitch to do. But we needed the goal because you could sense a frustration building from the crowd.
"The expectation is huge here and we are all really disappointed with losing the last two games and to find ourselves 1-0 down, but I hoped the crowd could see the effort we are putting in and the chances we were creating. If we maintain the support the crowd have been giving us they can only help us get three points like we have today."
Pitt continued, "We need that support over the next three games. We go out every game wanting to give them three points to go home with.
"With two away games to come, if we can get six points from them it would be great to come back here against Altrincham and let everyone have a party with the play-off spot and second place assured. Last season everyone was disappointed not to go up, this year we are better equipped, there are more options all over the pitch but particularly in attack.
"The strength in depth here must be the envy of every other team in this league so it's time to deliver."
