Convery Contract Cancelled

Posted on: Tue 24 Mar 2009

Mark Convery is leaving Cambridge United after his contract was cancelled by mutual consent.

The 27-year-old former Darlington midfielder joined on a free transfer from York City in the summer of 2007, but both seasons in Cambridge were interrupted by injuries and he has been restricted to 34 league appearances, scoring three goals.

He was in good form before Christmas and scored a stunning late equaliser at Crawley in November, but a knee ligament injury in the match at Burton in December sidelined him for three months and was his last appearance for the U's.

Mark made his comeback playing for CRC earlier this month, but he is unlikely to feature again under Gary Brabin so Chairman George Rolls came to an amicable agreement with Mark to cancel the remaining months of his contract by mutual consent.

We thank Mark for his service to Cambridge United - one of the highlights of which was his goal at Stevenage last season (below) - and wish him well in his future career.
