Scott Rendell took his Blue Square Premier goal tally to twelve with a brace against Northwich Victoria in Saturday's 4-1 home win, and afterwards praised the service enjoyed by the club's strikers.
Chris Holroyd opened the scoring in the 25th minute, Rendell netted twice before half-time and Andy Parkinson completed the scoring ten minutes from the end, and United's leading scorer paid credit to the rest of the team for the supply line.
"We set out to get an early goal, and we knew if we could do that there were goals there for us. Northwich have had a decent defensive record lately and we knew they would come out to shut up shop for the first half hour and try to turn the crowd. But we got the first goal early and just took it on from there.
"Chrissy and myself have had the benefit of some great service over recent weeks and that's all a striker really can ever wish for," he said.
"We've been getting assists from all over the park in recent weeks and this just emphasised that. The ball that Chrissy played in for my second was just fantastic - great vision, beautifully weighted. I put the ball away but he has to take full credit for it.
"But we have Pitty and Robbie Willmott out there whipping in balls all game long and we are going to score goals against anybody when we're playing like that."
The win extended United's unbeaten run to ten games and closed the gap on leaders Burton to five points, and Scott added, "Although what they do is out of our hands, we can just do everything that we can; winning our games and piling on the pressure and hopefully they will continue to drop points between now and the end of the season."
