Parky Makes Goalscoring Comeback

Posted on: Sun 22 Feb 2009

While the first team was winning 2-0 on the south coast at Lewes, Andy Parkinson made his long-awaited return to match action in Saturday's CRC match at home to Woodbridge Town.

The winger marked his comeback with a spectacular long-range goal and completed about an hour of the game - his first since the opening day of the season back in August.  A knee ligament injury in training two days later required an operation and ruled him out of action until Saturday's outing for United's development side.

'Parky' is expected to make another couple of appearances for CRC during his one month loan, before being considered for a return to first team action.

Leading scorer Adam Marriott opened the scoring in the 3-0 win and winger Jordan 'JP' Patrick scored CRC's third, in a performance that pleased Director of Youth Football Jez George after their 4-1 defeat in the Ridgeons League Cup semi-final on Wednesday evening. Jez will be writing a full report on the last two games, to appear here before he and Matt Walker begin their 'Torquay to Cambridge' walk on Monday.
