Rendell Injury "Not as Bad as Feared"

Posted on: Tue 03 Feb 2009

Scott Rendell's hand injury is not as bad as first thought.

The striker injured his hand in Thursday's 1-1 draw at home to Oxford and missed Sunday's win at Rushden & Diamonds due to a suspected broken bone in his hand/wrist. There was a fear that the nature of the injury would rule out the fitting of a cast, which could mean Rendell being unable to risk playing for up to six weeks.

However, although he will see a specialist before our next game on Monday at Kidderminster, there is a good chance that the striker will be cleared to play in that game.

"We don't think it's as bad as first thought so that's a big plus," Gary Brabin told cambridgeunited.com. "It felt like a new signing to get that news.

"The worst case scenario would have meant being without him for six weeks or more, but hopefully we'll have him back for next Monday now."
