Defender Phil Bolland promised hard to work to put things right after United's disappointing defeat at Wrexham on Thursday evening.
The home side scored in each half to seal a 2-0 win, while United's best chances fell to Scott Rendell and Felino Jardim but came to nothing in an otherwise evenly-contested game.
"We're all extremely disappointed and frustrated because we weren't good enough," said the big defender, who joined the Red Dragons last January after being released from Chester City, and became a fans' favourite in their ultimately unsuccessful battle against relegation.
"We could have done a lot better with both goals," he added. "You can say the first took a huge deflection but the lad shouldn't have got the chance to get the shot in. The second quite simply should have been cleared, but we also didn't get the ball into the box well enough so didn't punish them.
"It's frustrating because we are not putting a winning run together and we have to do that if we are going to get promoted. We need to show just what we're capable of to the fans, whether those who watched on TV or those who travelled and were superb - their support didn't deserve that performance."
32-year-old Bolland concluded, "We can put that right next week against Oxford and we need to do just that. We'll review what went wrong and work hard over the week to put it right."
