Brabin Frustrated Despite Win

Posted on: Wed 08 Oct 2008

Gary Brabin was pleased that Jon Challinor scored his first goal for the club to snatch another late, late home win against dogged Lewes, but he was frustrated with the officiating of the match and the timewasting tactics of the visitors.

"I'm really pleased with Jon Challinor," Brabin said after the 1-0 win. "We've been working on him getting into the penalty area a bit more often and it paid off tonight.

"But overall it was a frustrating evening. The referee didn't let play flow and he was always stopping play. I tried to get a message to him at half-time to ask him to allow the game to flow a bit more, but I got no reaction," revealed the United manager.

"I think if you took a video of the game and compressed it, there would be twelve minutes of brilliant football but there were too many stoppages."

Brabin added, "It was great to see Mark Beesley back in the side. He's not quite match fit and he'll need a few more games under his belt, but he made a real difference to us tonight."

The win lifted United back to fifth place, and our next match is at home to Weymouth on Saturday 11th October at 3pm.
