Wayne Hatswell was philosophical about the goal-less draw at York on Saturday.

Although both sides had chances to win the game, a draw was seen by most as a fair result and experienced defender Hatswell was pleased with United's second successive clean sheet.

"York aren't a bad side at all and their position in league from what we've seen today is a false one," he stated. "At home they are strong, as you can see by the fact that they are still unbeaten. That's why we needed to be dogged and give nothing away to them.

"It's disappointing not to reward the fantastic support with three points, but the clean sheet away from home is something we have really worked at. Yes, we could've created more up front but if you would have offered us nil-nil at the start of the game we would have taken it," he admitted.

The U's started with three up front but changed midway through the second half to a 4-4-2 formation and Hatswell explained, "We needed to change it because they dominated midfield after the first five minutes or so. It took us a while to get more organised but we didn't let them score and we had the chance to reorganise in the second half, trying to pose more of a threat from midfield and to get the strikers more involved.

"But they came out of the traps strongly after the break, and although it wasn't always backs against the wall it was always going to be get the point first and foremost and try to nick it. I think we deserved the point but not necessary all three."

Echoing the post-match comments of York manager Colin Walker, he added, "We'll look back at this as a point gained because come the end of April a lot of clubs will have been here and got beaten."

Reflecting on the last two games - Saturday's 0-0 draw and the previous Sunday's 1-0 at home to Grays - and looking ahead to this week's two home games, Hatswell concluded, "That's two clean sheets in a row; now we have two home games that we want to carry the defensive performances into and also get the goals that will get us the three points.

"Lewes and Weymouth will come to us and try to shut up shop so we will need to go out and get that early goal to open them up. And we will give it our best shot to pay the fans back for the support they give us."
