"We Should Have Won" Says McEvilly
Lee McEvilly was ill on the pitch during Saturday's 1-1 draw at Mansfield, but felt afterwards that his side should have won the game.
Admitting that he had overestimated his recovery from illness earlier in the week, McEvilly said afterwards, "I wasn't feeling well and it got to me just before half-time and I had to be sick on the pitch. I've been ill and only got back to training on Thursday, and I didn't think I felt that bad this morning but I do feel a bit groggy now.
"Mansfield gave us a tough game out there, which was good because you don't get time to think about how you are feeling," he added.
"They had a 100% home record before this and you would have taken a draw before the game - they will be there or thereabouts at the end of the season."
But McEvilly felt the U's should have taken all three points from the game and admitted, "We took our foot off the pedal for about ten minutes at the start of the second half, and it's not just today - we've done that in a few games and it's cost us points and isn't good enough.
"They punished us with the equaliser. We could argue whether it was a foul that gave them the free kick but we shouldn't have let them have the chance. You can't afford to give teams like Mansfield a chance, especially as there weren't many to be had for either side out there.
"Both sides tactically had each other worked out and it was more like a game of chess at times out there."
