Browny: "It's Good To Be Back"
Danny Brown made his first appearance since Wembley on Saturday and played the full 90 minutes of the 2-0 win against Wrexham.
Only four days after receiving the all-clear from his specialist to resume full contact training, the 27-year-old played an important role in a three-man midfield and afterwards claimed the winning margin could have been bigger.
"It was tiring out there but it was good to be back and I had no reaction to the injury - other than being knackered!" he admitted.
"I felt we settled into the new formation well. It was always going to work if you have got people who can play football and can play 'in the hole' as we have here, and as the game went on we showed a great level of work rate and just ground Wrexham down.
"2-0 flattered them a bit," he added. "We could of had another two and they really didn't look like scoring after the first few minutes. Our back line was strong and we also had the three in front of them, so anything they threw into their front men we were turning and having a bite at them, getting the ball back and getting it to the three lads up front."
Saturday was the first time Gary Brabin has sent his team out in the 4-3-3 line-up and Brown believes it provides an effective alternative to the more usual 4-4-2 system.
"It's good to have this formation in our locker, especially as it worked well today," he said. "But we are up against a different team next week and who knows what the Manager will do, it's his job to make decisions like that and it depends on what he feels is right for the occasion. I just want to be part of it and on the winning side.
"Torquay will be tough next week but if we play like we did in the first half and get a goal to break them down then we will be enough of a match for them."
