If Jon Challinor looked comfortable at right back on Saturday against Wrexham, that's because the position is already family to the U's midfielder.
With regular right back Dan Gleeson injured and young deputy Rory McAuley suspended, Challinor was pressed into service on the right of defence and put in an assured performance as the U's kept a clean sheet in their 2-0 home win.
"I played a few times at right back for Rushden last season and I started my career as a right back so it wasn't a problem fitting in when the gaffer asked me to do the job there," he revealed afterwards.
"Mark Convery made it easy for me with his work rate and covering, and he's done fantastically out there for us and should get all the praise. But on a whole it was a good team performance.
"I don't think we let Wrexham ever get to their game and that's all credit to the way we got the ball down and kept it moving - they couldn't deal with it."
The win came after two draws and a defeat in the previous three games and Challinor hopes it marks a return to the impressive four-game winning streak at the start of the season.
"We've now set a benchmark for ourselves and we have to do this every game here and make this place a fortress," he stated. "We've done OK on the road as we are still unbeaten, but we were disappointed with the last two draws.
"After those and the Kettering game we knew we owed the fans and ourselves a performance and you got that today. We know we've stepped off it over the last three matches and we needed the win. We want and aim to go out and win every game, whoever the opposition."
