Gary Brabin saw his team run out 3-0 winners at newly-promoted Eastbourne Borough and praised his players for the way they have conducted themselves in the opening weeks of the season.
"It was a great, dead professional performance from the lads," he said afterwards.
"All credit to Eastbourne; they're on a roll and they're a confident side with a good team spirit and these games aren't easy. We've had some potential banana skins with all the teams who are at full throttle from last year - full of confidence and nothing to lose - and the way we conducted ourselves was fantastic.
"In the end I think it was comfortable but we've had to work hard for that. If we keep conducting ourselves in the way we have been I'm confident we'll win more than we'll lose."
Delighted to see United hit three goals with no reply, and Ben Farrell and debutant Chris Holroyd opening their goal tallies for the season, Brabin added, "I think everyone who saw us play in pre-season knows we've got goals in us but we've got no divine right to start scoring loads of goals in every game.
"As I said, we've had some tough games and today we could have come in at half-time three or four goals up, but the pleasing thing is that everyone looks as though they're going to score and hopefully as the season progresses that will become a bit of a habit."
After losing key players to injury in the recent weeks, Brabin is pleased to have a growing selection problem as younger squad members press their claims for a starting place.
In the closing stages of the match he sent on Chris Holroyd, who eventually signed ten days ago after a protracted pre-season chase for his signature, and Swansea loanee Chris Jones, and he admitted, "We've got a few players on the bench at the moment chomping at the bit to come on.

"Young Jonesy has looked absolutely fantastic in training and he probably can't believe he's not getting a game because he's looked unbelievable, so I'm impressed with him.
"Chris Holroyd has been chomping at the bit too since he came in and I fancied him to score when he went on. I told him 'win your headers and get me a goal and I'll be happy', so I am happy but now I've got another problem going into Monday's game but it's a good problem to have!
"When everyone's fit I think we've got good healthy competition in the squad," he added. "We've got some good players but at the moment we're a bit thin on the ground so we can't afford any more injuries. We've got another game on Monday and we'll be preparing for that first thing in the morning, so it would be nice to have that full squad and bring some fresh legs in, but we haven't.
"We've got to do things properly and if we keep going the way we have I'll be confident."
Looking ahead to Monday's visit of Blue Square North champions Kettering Town, the U's boss warned, "It'll be a bit of a derby match so they'll be up for it. They got a good result today against Rushden and I'm expecting a tough game on Monday."
With United unbeaten in the first four games and sitting proudly atop the table with a 100% record, Brabin admitted that his team will be a target for everyone.
"I think teams will be coming to us and treating it like a cup final. With getting to the play-off final last season and the way we've started this season, teams are going to be coming to us with all guns blazing, But if we keep doing what we do right I'm more than happy," he concluded.
The U's are next in action at home to Kettering Town on Monday (kick-off 4.15pm).
