Website Revenue on The Rise
Cambridge United's bank balance was further boosted this month by an impressive rise in income on the previous quarter, generated by website hits.
The club was the fifth highest mover in the quarter behind Stockport, Rochdale, Doncaster and Gillingham. This was driven by advertising income with a 38% increase in site traffic compared to the previous quarter, which had a direct effect on page impressions and incomes.
Our official website showed the fifth biggest increase out of all 79 clubs on the Football League Interactive network, which includes a number of clubs in the Premiership. The top three earning clubs overall were Nottingham Forest, QPR and West Bromwich Albion.
Chief Executive Norman Gautrey commented, "Whilst we are not going to make millions out of the club website, every single penny counts and to make over £5,000 in the quarter is an excellent result. This is £3,000 more than Exeter made in the same quarter, which is a direct comparison, and was more than several of our competitors made in the whole of the season."
Gautrey went on to say, "This is testament to all the hard work that Andrea puts in behind the scenes together with the other contributors and it is important that people continue to register and view the Official Website."
He added, "Last season the website was visited 1.2 million times compared to 960,000 the previous season, with 5.8 million pages viewed which was up 2million on the previous season, and there were 3,200 visits per day - a rise of 600 on the previous season.
"This shows the interest being generated in the football club and how keen people are to be part of the club, and if we can get back into the Football League we can participate in other online deals and our web revenue will increase significantly."
You can have a direct effect on the income created by the club's website simply by visiting the site on a regular basis and opening a few extra pages each time you visit, which will mean more advertisements being displayed, which means more direct income to the club!
Likewise, you'll earn money for the club by starting your online searches from the Yahoo! search box at the top right of each page.
