Darren Quinton has signed a contract to the end of the season after a successful pre-season campaign that saw the 22-year-old return from the cruciate ligament injury that ruled him out from October 2007.

Manager Gary Brabin told cambridgeunited.com, "I didn't think it was fair to keep Quints on a month-to-month deal. He's worked really hard and shown enough quality and determination that I think he deserves to relax in the knowledge he has a contract for this season.

"I want him to carry on in the same way and I think he'll get better and better and give good competition for places in midfield."

Quinton came through the youth system at Cambridge United and had established himself as a first team regular with a series of good performances last season before the knee injury brought his season to a premature end.
