Knee Op for Courtney?
Courtney Pitt will miss the start of the season and could require an operation on the left knee injury he suffered in the first half of the match against West Ham last week.
Physio Greg Reid told cambridgeunited.com, "After examining Courtney following his injury it became evident that his knee was exhibiting some postero-lateral rotary instability.
"The part of the knee responsible for postero-lateral stability is known as the arcuate ligament complex and it contains a variety of separate tendons and ligaments which act as a single functional unit."
Due to the complex anatomy of this part of the knee, an MRI scan was undertaken on Friday last week, and on Monday Pitt visited an orthopaedic surgeon specialising in knee injuries. Following a clinical assessment and review of the scan, the specialist has confirmed the diagnosis of a tear of the popliteal hiatus.
Greg added, "Courtney has made excellent progress since his injury and, following advice from the specialist, he will begin a controlled rehab programme and the decision to operate will be deferred for the next week to ten days."
There is good news about midfielder Danny Brown who underwent shoulder stabilisation surgery at the end of last season. He is making good progress and is on course to return to non-contact squad training within the next week.
