Play in the U's v City Fans Match
Following on from the success of the inaugural match last season, the fans of Cambridge City and Cambridge United will be going head to head once again at Milton Road as City bid to retain the Cambridge Supporters Cup.
The match, which will be half an hour each way, is part of the Centenary Friendly between Cambridge City and Cambridge United and will take place on Friday 18th July at 7:30pm at Milton Road, three days after the main event.
Andrew Dunn, Chairman of the Cambridge City Supporters Trust, said, "It's great that the two sets of fans are getting together once again. The match last season was both competitive and entertaining with City claiming the honours courtesy of a penalty shoot-out, and we would like to thank Abbey Youth for agreeing to take part in the match again, which should be a nice addition to the main event that takes place earlier in the week."
Ben Phillips, captain and organiser of the Amber Army fans team, added, "It's always a great game full of banter and entertainment between both sets of fans, and I urge friends and supporters of both sets of teams to come along and lend some support!"
Places in the team are still available on a first come first served basis, and are being auctioned with a minimum bid of £20 per person, with all money received going to the Supporters Trust. The Trust is also accepting bids for Captain, Manager, Team Photographer, Mascots and Physio.
Players from both sides will also get free entry to the Centenary Friendly with United on Tuesday 15th July, as well as a voucher to spend on some suitable liquid refreshment in the Legends Bar!
Supporters from both sides are encouraged to turn up and cheer the teams on. Entrance will be £1.00 for Adults and 50p for concessions. The deadline for entries is Friday 11th July, and if you want to claim your place in the team, then please contact Ben Phillips by E-mail on Benphillips610@hotmail.com
