Cambridge United have accepted an improved offer from Stevenage Borough for Lee Boylan, and the striker is expected to complete his transfer early next week.
An offer from Stevenage was rejected on Tuesday and director George Rolls commented then that no more players would leave the club "unless someone offers ridiculous money."
He confirmed that the Hertfordshire club returned today with an improved offer and Boylan himself was keen to move on: "As everyone knows, we rejected their initial offer but Lee has made it clear that he wants to join Stevenage and they've made us a very good offer for a player who will be 30 this summer."
The fee for Boylan, who joined United on a free transfer last summer, will remain undisclosed but Rolls added, "It's good business for the club and it's a deal that suits both parties. We wish Lee well for the future."
Boylan was United's second top scorer last season with 11 goals from 24 league starts and eight substitute appearances, in a campaign interrupted by two spells on the sidelines with hamstring and ankle injuries. In December he signed a contract extension to 2009.
He is the second player to make the move from Cambridge to Broadhall Way since the end of the season, following defender Mark Albrighton's move two weeks ago, and manager Jimmy Quinn told cambridgeunited.com, "I didn't really want Lee to go, but he's set his heart on Stevenage and it's a good deal for the club and it's what the player wanted.
"He's done a great job for us and I thank him for his input for the club. It's hard to keep players when they want to move but it releases money for other players to come in.
"There are loads of players about and there's no rush to bring people in," the manager continued. "I'm getting lots of calls from players and agents and I won't be rushing into anything. I'm experienced at this and I will make sure we bring the right players in for the new season.

"When you're successful, as we were last season by finishing second, everyone wants your players and you can see that's happened here when players hear that other clubs want them, but there are plenty of players who want to come here and we'll make sure we pick the right ones."
Quinn added that he is taking the same approach to recruiting a new assistant manager to replace Willy Wordsworth, who left the club at the end of the season because the full-time role did not suit him long-term.
"I'll be interviewing three or four people in the next few weeks, but again there's no rush," he stressed.
"I've got to make sure they're up for the challenge and I pick the right person, but I can assure the supporters that we'll have some decent players for next season - I'm really looking forward to it."
