Jimmy Quinn saw Rob Wolleaston fire Cambridge United into the Play-off Final at Wembley with two goals against Burton and declared himself delighted for the supporters.

"It's fantastic to be going to Wembley and I'm delighted for everyone connected with the club," declared the U's boss. "There's been a lot of hard work put into the planning and preparation, but all the acclaim should go the players because they're the ones who have to go out onto the field and do it.

"And the fans - how many times have I stood here and talked about the fans being that extra man? And they were tonight. Even when we conceded a goal they were right behind the team and they deserve to get promoted - I want to do it for them."

Looking back over the game, he admitted, "Burton were the better team in the first half. We got off to a great start but when they scored their equaliser I thought we lost a little bit of confidence and we got a little bit nervy and edgy.

"But that's the beauty of half-time. I said to the lads 'Burton have won the first half and now we've got to go out and win the second, we've got to raise the bar and give it an extra ten per cent'.

"It was a lucky second goal," he added. "We've talked about getting more crosses into the box and Rob hooked it in there and it went in. That gave us the basis to go on and we could have scored another couple of goals if it hadn't been for their goalkeeper.

"I was happy to be in the lead but it would have been nice to get the third because that would have killed the game, but he's an experienced keeper and he made some good saves."

Burton tormentor-in-chief was Courtney Pitt who showed pace and control to create openings down the left flank throughout the game and Quinn expressed his delight at his performance: "I thought Courtney was outstanding in the second half.

"He didn't really get going in the first because I think Corbett did a good job on him, but I told Courtney I wanted him going forward in the second half and running at the defence and getting crosses in, and I thought he was our best player in the second half.

"And Rob Wolleaston was great for us," he commented. "He put some great quality into the box at corners, particularly from the right hand side, and it gave our big lads a chance.

"Mark Peters had a great header at the end and I think it hit Leo, so I'll have to have a word with him! But Leo came on tonight after being away on loan and he showed his experience at both ends, and that's why I put him on the bench because I thought we might need that.

"Lee McEvilly was on his last legs and I wanted to freshen it up and that was the beauty of having big Leo on the bench because he's good in both boxes, as we saw near the end. It's unfortunate that one or two of the lads had to be left out but I picked the subs with that in mind and I thought the three substitutes all did a really good job for us.

"I'm just delighted for everybody concerned," added the manager. "A lot of hard work has gone into it but we've got a little bit of time now to regroup and plan the next couple of weeks and we'll be ready for Wembley, don't worry about that.

"It was a little bit panicky in the first half but we'll learn from that. We'll take them on a day out at Wembley to soak up the atmosphere before we play there, and it will be a great day. I'm delighted for everybody but especially the fans."

We will bring news of ticket and other arrangements for Wembley as soon as possible.
