Three of the 'ankle club' have resumed training today after recovering from ankle injuries of varying severity.

Danny Brown has missed most of this season due to two separate injuries to different ankles, which have restricted him to just eight league appearances all season. His last game was the 5-0 win against Droylsden at the end of January so he is some way off being fit enough to return to playing, but he has now resumed full training.

Jimmy Quinn admitted he was pleasantly surprised to be told by physio Greg Reid this morning that Stephen Reed and Wayne Hatswell had both passed fitness tests and would be rejoining the squad for training.

"It's been difficult having six players out with ankle injuries but Danny is back in training now and Stephen Reed and Wayne Hatswell will train today," he confirmed. "That was a bit unexpected because they've come back quite a lot quicker than we thought so it was a nice surprise and we'll have to see how they are."

On Danny Brown he added, "He's had problems with these ankle injuries and just keeps breaking down but hopefully he's right now and he'll stay fit. It will still take him a couple of weeks to get fit, but there's a bit more give in the ground now so hopefully that will help him and he'll stay clear of injury between now and the end of the season.

"The more people you've got fit, the better competition for places. I don't want our players getting complacent thinking they're already in the play-offs so competition for places is healthy."

Still on the injury list are Dan Chillingworth (ankle), Darren Quinton (knee), Michael Hyem (knee), Ben Farrell (ankle) and Lee McEvilly (ankle).

United have two matches over the Easter weekend - at home to Weymouth on Saturday (3pm) and away to Ebbsfleet United on Monday (7.45pm). The latter game will be televised by Setanta TV.
