Lee Boylan scored his first goals since mid-December on Saturday, marking his recent return to the starting line-up with two welcome goals either side of half-time to ensure a win against in-form visitors York City.

The goals took his tally for the season to nine - six in the league - and after recovering from a hamstring injury and then having to wait for an opening in the team the former Canvey Island and Grays Athletic striker spoke if his delight.

"The team has been doing well so I've had to fight my way back into the side and that's what we do here. It's been hard but Scott (Rendell) was doing really well, but he's moved to Peterborough and all the best to him there. It's given me the opportunity and hopefully these goals are just the start of what I can do for the team in the run in."

Reviewing the two goals, Lee commented, "The first one was a long through ball and as a striker you don't give anything up so I just chased it and the defender moved out of the way thinking the keeper was going to clear it, and I just thought 'thanks' and knocked it past the keeper.

"The second was again down to another mistake from their defence, Reedy got on the end of their back pass and although it was a tight angle I got on the end of it and knocked it home.

"The type of goals I've scored today are the type I used to do and they come from working the box - a lot of my goals come from that area. It's good to get back on track and start scoring again."

The win was United's third in a row and extended the current unbeaten run to five games, and with only one home defeat all season in the league Boylan added, "It's becoming a bit of a fortress here now and I think it does affect teams who come here.

"Although they think they can shut our fans up I don't think they know our fans very well. They made a lot of noise today even when it was scoreless and that level of support is really appreciated by the lads and management.

"Now it's important we take the form we've shown over the last month into the two away games this week. We know what we have to do in closing the gap to Aldershot and that's win every game between now and the end of the season. We'll go to both Oxford and Farsley full of confidence knowing exactly what to do."
