Jimmy Quinn believes new loan signing Jack Jeffery will be popular with Cambridge United supporters.

The 18-year-old striker has joined on an initial month's loan from West Ham United, and after training with the U's players today 'JJ' will be in the squad to face Forest Green Rovers at the Abbey Stadium tomorrow.

"With Scott (Rendell) going to Peterborough it's important that we bolster the squad and I thought it was important that we got another striker in for competition for places," Jimmy Quinn told cambridgeunited.com

"He's a Tony Cottee size player, strong upper body, sharp, and he works very hard and chases things down, and he will hopefully do a good job for us.

"Obviously coming from the West Ham academy he's good technically, and I'm sure the fans will take to him because he works himself into the ground for the team, which is what you want."

Quinn indicated that Lee McEvilly and Lee Boylan will start up front against Forest Green when he added, "He'll probably start from the bench tomorrow but if we need to change it then I'll have no qualms about sending him on."

Jack has been a regular all season for West Ham Reserves, playing alongside players like Dean Ashton, Craig Bellamy, Bobby Zamora, Carlton Cole and Henri Camara, and he scored a curling goal from the edge of the area against Birmingham City Reserves. He has been allocated squad number 12.
