Leo Loan To York
Cambridge United striker Leo Fortune-West has today joined York City on loan for the rest of the season.
The 36-year-old joined United on a free transfer on the eve of the new season after securing his release from Rushden & Diamonds, and he began the season in great form with four goals in his first three games.
The goals included a hat-trick against Farsley Celtic and earned him the first Blue Square Premier 'Player of the Month' award of the new season.
Leo, who lives in Doncaster, has scored six goals in the league in 17 starts and six appearances from the bench, plus one goal in the FA Cup and one in the FA Trophy.
He has been used as a substitute more recently, due to the tremendous form of Scott Rendell, and he has just completed a four match suspension after receiving a yellow and then a straight red card in this month's FA Trophy defeat at Histon.
Leo told us, "I've enjoyed my time at Cambridge United and I'd like to thank everyone for their support. I wish everyone all the best and I hope the club gets promoted at the end of the season."
It has been agreed that Leo will not play against Cambridge United in our remaining league fixture or in any potential play-off fixtures between the two clubs.
The transfer deadline is at midnight tonight and we will of course bring you the first news of any further transfers.
