Albrighton: "We Didn't Deserve To Win"
Mark Albrighton made his comeback in Friday's 1-0 home defeat in the Setanta Shield admitted afterwards, "I'm very disappointed.
"To be fair to Rushden we didn't deserve to win - we were very below par. The manager has had a good chat with us and left us to think about the game and how the performance just wasn't good enough.
"There are big games coming up but our minds weren't on them - we go into every game wanting to win it. Obviously you will have bad games, you can't play well all the time, and in a way I hope that's the bad game out of the way and come Histon we are back on form again.
"So far this season we've done really well and once you have a bad game people look to see what's going on, but it's not for the want of trying.
"The lads do give it everything but some days it doesn't work out. Luckily this was a cup game and the major priority is the league - Histon will be tough but the fans can be assured we'll give it our best come Boxing Day."
31-year-old Albrighton completed the full match after spending four weeks on the sidelines with a troublesome gash in his knee, and he admitted, "I was blowing a bit towards the end but I've only trained for about a week.
"As we haven't got a reserve team it was an ideal way to get the 90 minutes under my belt before the Christmas games, and I feel OK."
