Coulson: "Can't Believe We Lost"
18-year-old Josh Coulson made his full U's debut at Kidderminster on Thursday evening and couldn't believe afterwards that he had finished on the losing side after United peppered the home goal and lost to an offside goal.
The Cherry Hinton youngster said afterwards, "It's unbelievable that we lost this game. We dominated throughout and particularly in the second half we seemed to be camped in their half. How some of those chances didn't go in is beyond me.
"It was like their goal led a charmed life as we ripped their defence open time and time again. I understand it was just like last year's game when we got the same result from a similar performance."
The conditions were far from perfect at kick-off after heavy rain, and the game only went ahead after a series of late pitch inspections right up until 7.30pm.
"When we arrived the pitch looked like it may not be playable but the ground staff did a fantastic job and it held up well," said Coulson. "It was a bit heavy towards the end, and with it being my first full 90 minutes for some time I was feeling it.
"Other than the goal, which I thought there were at least two offside decisions in the build up, I don't think their forwards caused us too many problems," he added.
"Before each match we get a dossier from the gaffer on the players we'll be up against, so I was well prepared and other than the result I was happy with my first full 90 minutes.
"I do feel sorry for the fans because they sacrificed a lot to travel here through some appalling conditions, but their support was superb and I'm really sorry we couldn't give them even a point to go home with."
