Jimmy Quinn left Michael Morrison out of the side at Kidderminster Harriers on Thursday evening to hand a first start to Josh Coulson.

The 18-year-old made a number of good interceptions, including one superb diving header to divert a goalbound Kidderminster effort wide in the first half, and also showed good composure and distribution in slippery conditions.

"I don't like to single people out but I gave young Morro a bit of a rest and I thought Josh Coulson was tremendous," said Quinn afterwards.

Morrison is currently stalling over the offer of a new contract, and Quinn seemed to give the clearest indication yet that he does not expect the 19-year-old to stay when he said, "Michael does well for our level, but he doesn't want to sign a contract so what I have to focus on is what's best for Cambridge United.

"While Michael is here he's a great lad and he'll play his part, but I hadn't given young Josh a game yet and he's been chomping at the bit.

"I know he's going to be a good player - and I know Michael Morrison is going to be a good player - but I've got make sure I safeguard the future of Cambridge United," he added.

"Michael has aspirations to play at a higher level and obviously his agent will be on the case. Whether something happens in the transfer window we'll have to wait and see, but I need to give people games and I thought Josh had a tremendous game."
