Adam Davies is the new coach of Cambridge United's talented Under-10s team. The Wales Under-21 international defender decided to retire from professional football in August after suffering a second serious knee injury in less than a year.

Head of Youth Development Jez George commented, "Digger is a great lad and will be able to pass on a huge amount of knowledge to these youngsters.

"His experiences as a player, having been through youth schemes at Peterborough United and Cambridge United, will stand him in good stead and although this will be his first coaching job, I am certain Adam will be a great success.

"At these ages, we really believe in coaching techniques and improving the players by encouraging them to play with freedom. Expressing themselves on the pitch, not being afraid of making mistakes and showing no fear is so important in their development.

"The persona of the coach on the touchline is therefore vital in this process. The kids will relate to Adam much in the same way they responded to Tom Pell as Under 9's last season."
