United's leading scorer Leo Fortune-West netted his sixth goal of the season in Saturday's 2-1 win against Crawley, but he was unhappy at the way the win was achieved.
"I'm pleased with the goal and with the win but we made hard work of it," he said afterwards.
"Again, we aren't playing well - going a goal behind, coming back and not really finishing teams off. Today should have been more comfortable than 2-1. It's not good to let the opposition go ahead."
The big striker scored United's equaliser four minutes after half-time and praised strike partner Scott Rendell for setting him up: "Scott did very well, chose the ball perfectly and got it to me. On a wet day that would have skidded out but on a dry pitch like today it held up nicely for me and I just put it away.
"Again the goals have come in front of the Newmarket Road End and whether we should start by attacking that end is something we may have to think about. We seem to play better attacking that end anyway."
Before the game, Leo collected his Blue Square Player of the Month award for August but felt the month should have better: "I'm never happy. There were too many games we should've won last month and turning draws into wins is more important."
Looking ahead to Tuesday's trip to Altrincham, Fortune-West concluded, "Altrincham haven't had a great start but it's important for the older players in the squad to keep everyone focused for the job in hand. We won't be taking any opposition lightly.
"It looks like it will be wet, which is good for me because of my height. Training in the current conditions can be very damaging for me, especially because where we train the ground is like concrete. I didn't train on Friday but trained hard on Thursday and then rested, which helped a lot today, but hopefully as this dry spell is about to break and I won't have to worry about it so much."
