Striker Completes Move To U's
Leo Fortune-West has passed his medical and signed for Cambridge United today.
The big striker played for an hour against Leicester City on Monday evening and agreed terms with Jimmy Quinn on Wednesday, and he passed his medical and completed the paperwork after today's training session.
Fortune-West now looks set to start up front alongside Lee Boylan in the season's opener at York City, in a classic little and large striking partnership. Boylan is all about movement and pace while Fortune-West's height and strength make him an awkward customer for any defender to mark.
They played together this morning for the first time as Boylan returned to full training after injuring his shoulder last Saturday at Bedford, and will train together again tomorrow at Leeds United's training ground after the team travels up to Yorkshire.
"They have all done well in pre-season but I can only pick eleven, and if Lee has no reaction to today's training he will start at York," confirmed Jimmy Quinn.
"He's had a terrific pre-season and he's earned his place; he's a little bit ahead of the other strikers at the moment and he knows the game.
"Leo didn't know anyone on Monday but he did well. He's not only a scorer but he creates chances for others, and those two will start on Saturday barring any injuries."
Fortune-West will wear shirt number 12.
