Cambridge United reached the Third Round of the FA Trophy for the first time ever after a professional performance saw them win 2-0 at Eastbourne Borough.
The win was the first away from home since October, and marked the first victory since the turn of the year.
Despite keeping the 4-3-3 formation from the past two fixtures, it was the pair of central midfielders that found the net, as Sam Ives and Jai Reason struck clinical goals either side of half time.
Despite Eastbourne seeing most of the ball early on, The U's struck first as Danny Crow made progress down the right hand side before pulling the ball back for Sam Ives to power the ball home from just inside the penalty box. The U's used the ball much better after this but Danny Potter was called on to make a fine save shortly before the interval to deny Nathan Crabb.
Martin Ling's side dominated the second half with Potter barely tested, and the win was sealed when Jai Reason powered a header home after Rory McAuley's excellent right wing cross. United saw out the remaining time comfortably and ended up easing into the Third Round, where they will meet Salisbury City or Maidstone United.
Man of the Match: Rory McAuley. Any of the young pro's could have won the award, but the right back let nothing past him and provided a superb delivery for the goal that sealed the victory.

19.32 This marks the fourth meeting between the sides in less than eight weeks, with the U's yet to win in those meetings. Chris Holroyd returns the line-up after failing to agree personal terms at Brighton, he is part of a three man strike force alongside Lee Phillips and Danny Crow, who celebrates his birthday today.
19.36 Former Salisbury manager Nicky Holmes appears to be present, probably scouting as Salisbury or Maidstone face the winners of tonight's game.
19.46 The teams are out and the game kicks off, United getting the action underway.
19.48 It's a chilly night tonight, only the bravest of souls are present in support of either side.
19.49 Brian Saah commits a foul for pulling his man down and The Sports have a set piece only thirty yard s out, and Nathan Crabb would have a free header if he hadn't jumped too early, and the ball skews off the top of his head to safety.
19.50 Holroyd wins a freekick in a similar position from The U's, and Josh Coulson heads powerfully into Knowles' hands.
19.52 The home side win the first corner of the match. Ten back for The U's, but an Eastbourne player wins the flick before Brian Saah concedes another corner. Liam Marum retrieves it and Saah concedes a third corner in quick succession, but finally the ball is cleared.
19.57 Marum flops over Coakley and wins a cheap freekick on the corner edge of the area. Coakley heads the ball out well before the rebound is smacked wide via a big deflection. Yet another cleared, this time it's cleared by Coakley at the far post.
19.58 A member of the Eastbourne touchline staff is either completely loopy or hard as nails- he's wearing shorts when everyone needs about four layers.
20.00 GOAL Eastbourne 0-1 CUFC Danny Crow makes excellent progress on the right, his lay back is just behind Holroyd but Sam Ives is running into the box to power the ball into the top corner for his first goal since September.
20.02 The goal is against the run of play so far, but Eastbourne nearly hit back as Nathan Crabb crosses from the byeline but Jamie Taylor can't prod home from close range under pressure from Coakley.
20.04 Nathan Crabb strikes the ball so high that if the roof was twice as high it would still have been out of the ground.
20.08 Sam Ives sends Phillips scampering away with a splendid ball down the line, and he tees up Danny Crow, who sees his cross deflected to a defender.
20.11 Coakley has started extremely well, stooping bravely to head away a left wing cross. The U's are moving the ball quicker than they have done in recent matches. Ives' goal marks the first time that United have been winning since leading Stevenage on Boxing Day.
20.13 Another set piece near the edge of the area for Eastbourne as Matt Crabb is fouled. This is much more central than the previous free kicks. Marum hits the wall with his effort and Danny Potter does well to smother the ball ahead of an onrushing attacker.
20.16 Chris Holroyd muscles out of a challenge in the centre circle, and is promptly brought down to stop his progress. The freekick from Reason drifts out for a goal kick.
20.21 After a spell of attempted through balls from both sides, Marum is set away by a lucky break off Saah, but Josh Coulson covers with an excellent challenge to concede a corner. Nathan Crabb appeals for a penalty from the set play but the referee is unswayed.
20.27 Danny Potter is called into action and makes an excellent save, plunging to his left to push Nathan Crabb's effort wide after he was somehow able to beat the offside flag. Holroyd scampers clear out wide on the break, but loses control of the ball when trying to cut inside.
20.34 One additional minute is played and the referee blows for half time, The U's a goal to the good. A well worked goal created by Crow and finished by Ives is the difference between the sides so far, with Ives, Coakley and Coulson especially impressing.
20.49 After a quarter of an hour in which everyone has been doing their best to warm up, the players are back out and the action gets back underway.
20.51 Chris Holroyd tries to run free but is brought down, with Marc Pullan possibly unlucky to escape a booking.
20.53 Rory McAuley launches a long throw into the box and Crow controls the ball well before seeing his close range effort closed down. A foul is given at the corner.
20.55 Tonight's attendance is a predictably low 525.
20.57 Holroyd skips inside a few players before striking a left footed effort narrowly over the far post.
21.00 GOAL Eastbourne 0-2 CUFC. Rory McAuley provides an outstanding cross from the right, onto the head of Jai Reason who guides his header into the far corner. Beautiful build-up, and for the second time tonight a midfielder is surging into the box to finish the move off.
21.03 All of the play since half time has been in the Eastbourne half. Sam Ives sees two efforts charged down in the space of a minute.
21.04 Chris Holroyd beats the offside trap after another brilliant McAuley pass, the striker is too wide to shoot and pulls the ball back for Danny Crow, who thumps a pile driver which Knowles does well to tip over.
21.08 The first change of the evening sees Dan Smith replace Nathan Crabb for the home side.
21.13 Danny Crow nutmegs his man and sets McAuley away at the byeline, only for the ball to ricochet back into him, catching him a nasty blow.
21.18 Sam Ives run past at least three players but passes the wrong way and Holroyd is unable to reach his through ball. The ball goes up the other end and Jamie Taylor shoots straight into Potter's hands.
21.21 Chris Holroyd tries to cut inside from just inside the box but the keeper is quick to come out and claim the ball.
21.22 Chris Holroyd leaves the field for what could be last time in a Cambridge United shirt, and Robbie Willmott comes on to replace him.
21.26 Eastbourne's second change sees Simon Johnson come off to be replaced by former Crawley man Simon Weatherstone.
21.27 There's been not much goalmouth action but Jamie Taylor has a chance on the left from outside the box, but he screws his effort well wide.
21.29 A long range freekick for the hosts is well struck but Danny Potter gets down well to save to save it. Four minutes separate The U's from the Third Round.
21.31 Jai Reason needs treatment and is replaced by Adam Marriott.
21.34 Eastbourne win a corner which is promptly wasted, and three minutes will be added to the ninety.
21.35 Sub Marriott works his way into the area after beating his man, and the ball falls to Robbie Willmott to blaze over the roof.
The full time whistle blows and the U's progress after their first away win since October.
