Andy Duncan

Andy Duncan is back in training but a number of players are struggling to be fit for Saturday's match against Ipswich.

Duncan has been working his way back to fitness following an operation on his heel in May, and after rehabilitating with physio Greg Reid today was his first day back in training with the squad.

However fellow defender Mark Peters is still struggling with a severely bruised foot which has kept him out of action since the opening friendly at Histon, and youngsters Darren Quinton and Adam Davies are both under treatment for strained thigh muscles.

"They might not be involved on Saturday but they will almost certainly be back training early next week.

"Mark Peters' foot is sadly not settling as quickly as we'd have hoped," he added. "We're doing everything possible and although it's incredibly frustrating for all concerned there's nothing else we can do but let Mother Nature do her job."

Likewise, it is a waiting game for goalkeeper Paul Crichton who has missed the last two games with an infection in his ankle.

"He's under hospital treatment for the swelling and he's taking antibiotics and antihistamines for it, which is working, and we just have to let the medication takes its course," confirmed Greg.

No. 2 goalkeeper Shane Herbert had a sore calf after last night's game at Cambridge City but is expected to be fit for Saturday, and Tommy Jaszczun and Jon Brady both returned to training today after recovering from thigh and Achilles problems respectively.
