Courtney Pitt using the knee braceWinger Courtney Pitt (right) has been sidelined for the last six weeks after damaging the medial ligament in his knee in the match at Halifax.

He could be in rehabilitation for up to another month but yesterday (Monday) he began running again.

"Courtney is now six weeks post-injury and we have been working hard to improve his leg strength and increase the stability of his knee," reported club physio Greg Reid.

"He is still in what is termed the 'protective' phase of the rehab protocol, which means that his knee is still not ready to accept uncontrolled stresses being applied to it.

"However he has progressed to the extent that he was able to begin straight line running yesterday."

Striker Paul Atkins missed last weekend's game with a calf strain but he is making good progress and Greg anticipates that he should be able to return to training by the end of the week.

Mark Peters and David Bridges both picked up thigh contusions - or "dead legs" - in Saturday's match against Canvey Island. Although they are both quite sore at the moment they should be available for the 'Family Day' match at home to Scarborough on Saturday.

Finally, youth team centre half Ryan Moon has damaged the lateral ligaments in his ankle and will be out for 3 - 4 weeks.
