From the Physio
There is mixed news from the treatment room ahead of Friday night's game at home to Tamworth.
Physio Greg Reid has had a "revolving door" on his treatment room this week as some players have returned to training and others have reported with problems.
Defender Dan Gleeson has been under treatment for the back problem that ruled him out of the match at Southport. He is now running again and will hopefully return to training later this week.
Matt Nolan made his comeback from a knee injury in yesterday's friendly match at Peterborough, and although the striker reported with some slight soreness this morning he was fit to rejoin the squad for training today.
However there is bad news about Darren Quinton, who has recently returned from an ankle injury. The midfielder injured a tendon at the back of his lower leg in the match at London Road and is currently under treatment.
"He's very sore at the moment and we'll have to leave the injury to settle for a couple of days," said Greg. "He's doubtful for Friday's game."
Greg is also treating two of the youth team players for similar injuries to the sacro-iliac joint in their lower back, which is an injury Luke Guttridge suffered last season.
First year goalkeeper Lee Matthews and third year left back Duane Eastall are the two players with that complaint, but both are responding well to treatment.
Finally, youth team goalkeeper Matt Mann has just returned from a week at Lilleshall for intensive rehabilitation following his summer operation on a dislocated shoulder.
"He's still doing very well and making good progress," reported Greg. "The PFA will pay for three weeks at Lilleshall so he's going back there again at the end of this month and the beginning of December.
"It's good for players to get up there for a change of scenery and some intensive one-on-one time with a physio.
"Then he has a final follow-up appointment with the surgeon at Christmas and hopefully will be fit to resume after the break in the youth team's fixtures over Christmas and New Year."
