Physio Greg Reid has several first team players under his care at present and he has updated us about their progress.

Andy Parkinson had an operation in August after rupturing his Anterior Cruciate Ligament in training, and Greg reports, "Andy is now five months post-op and to date he has achieved all the criteria for progression that we have set for him regarding clinical assessment, neuromuscular control, Isokinetic values, Cardio-respiratory efficiency and functional field-based testing.

"The final stage of his rehabilitation is to continue to phase back into training over the next few weeks, where he will be gradually exposed to uncontrolled activities and full contact training."

As with Courtney Pitt earlier this season, the plan is to set up a loan to reserve/youth side CRC to give Andy some match practice and Greg confirmed, "We are currently liaising with Jez George about a loan to CRC, with a view to getting some competitive matchplay in three to four weeks' time."

Mark Convery ruptured his medial collateral ligament in the match at Burton in December and had to immobilise his knee for six weeks. He came out of his knee brace on Thursday and has been cleared by the specialist to begin the next stage of his rehabilitation.

Darren Quinton has been restricted to one appearance this season, in the Setanta Shield at Telford in November. He is now making steady progress following surgery to resect torn knee cartilage.

Anthony Tonkin has missed the last two games and Greg explains: "Anthony has been receiving treatment for a pelvic malalignment problem, which has resulted in some inflammation in the area where his adductor muscles attach onto his pelvis.

"Anthony's symptoms are settling nicely and we have put a programme in place to help prevent a recurrence."

Finally, Paul Carden sustained a hamstring strain in the game against Crawley but he is making good progress in his recovery and Greg confirms, "He appears to be on course to be available for selection for the Oxford match on Thursday."
