News From the Physio
Physio Greg Reid brings us up to date with the latest news from the treatment room.
Paul Carden missed Thursday's 2-2 draw at Forest Green after feeling a 'tight' hamstring following last weekend's win at home to Weymouth, but the midfielder is making good progress with his recovery.
"Although there is a neural component of his rehab, which is ongoing, he is currently on course to phase back into training this week," Greg confirmed.
Winger Courtney Pitt suffered a knee injury in the pre-season friendly against West Ham and had surgery in August, and he hopes to be available for a return to action later next month.
"Courtney has been working hard in the rehab department, including spending a week at Lilleshall," reported Greg, "He has begun the functional stage of his rehab and is carrying out some controlled running drills."
Andy Parkinson also suffered a pre-season knee injury, although his was more serious as he suffered a ruptured Anterior Cruciate Ligament in training and he is expected to miss the rest of the season.
Bringing us up to date with Parky's progress, Greg told cambridgeunited.com, "He has also been working extremely hard to increase his leg strength and weight bearing control, including a week at Lilleshall.
"Andy's rehab has to be very carefully planned and monitored at the moment as the ACL graft is currently at its weakest, and in three weeks' time he will return to the surgeon who will decide if he is able to progress to next stage of his rehab."
