Hello and a warm welcome to this week's update from the Community team. With most of you now back at school and working as hard as ever, the Community coaches are busy running lunch time and after schools clubs at many of your schools. We are also very busy organizing courses for the October half term. Our half-term courses will be taking place in Sawston, Fulbourn, Soham, Foxton, Comberton, Swavesey, Coldhams Common and Wheatfields Junior School, St Ives. From aged 4-14, whatever your gender, ability, or experience you are welcome to come along.
If you are a teacher or help organise sporting activities in your local area, you may be wondering how might the Scheme benefit your club. We are flexible in our own ideas and would also welcome any new ideas you may have thought off or thinking about. Obviously a large range of the services and activities we provide centre around football. However from lunchtime supervision, to class room aides, to story telling, we already help out at schools in ways you may not have already imagined.
We have staff with very high academic qualifications as well as coaching qualifications, which may provide you with exactly what you're looking for. If you think your school or club could benefit from our help please do call us on 01223 416238.
We will be welcoming and thanking some very special guests at Saturday's game against York City - representatives from Railtrack. The Company has played a leading role in sponsorship for Community Schemes up and down the country, helping to promote football in a variety of ways. As well as being the National sponsor for the P.F.A. Community Schemes we are very pleased to announce that the company have decided to sponsor our Community Scheme independently.
Paul Denton of Railtrack said, "We are very proud to sponsor the Community Scheme, and here at Cambridge, they are making great strides to provide children with a comprehensive programme that is informative, exciting and safe.
"Our slogan "safety is our goal" is one in which we know will be delivered by the scheme across Cambridge, and in partnership with the Scheme, we hope to reduce track vandalism, reduce rail related crime and educate children on the safety issues with regard to use of, and playing near the railway".
The investment made by Railtrack will be used to help finance an educational package that will provide children inside and outside of school both a physical and mental package. The educational package will focus on social issues outside of school, which will include teaching our children safety in the Community and being aware of rail safety.
If you are interested in playing football, making new friends, and quite simply having a fun time, call the Community Office, on 01223 416238 for more details on how to book on a future course. If you would like information regarding our fantastic Birthday and Match Day packages please call us.
