FITC Round Up
Posted on: Wed 17 Nov 2004
With over 15 courses in the summer the Community Scheme is a hive of activity at the moment and, with busier times a head as the school year fast approaches, procedures are being put in place for September coaching sessions at schools, FITC Officer Mark Nutter reports.
Our links with the local Councils' are improving all the time, and we hope to increase these links this year with Cambridge City Council, Fenland and Huntingdonshire all signing on.
The main goal for the Community Scheme this year is to implement a curriculum time coaching project that will provide children with football activities, linked to important messages relating to the everyday demands and challenges children face. Partnerships are a key to the projects success and with their help; we will be able to, through football, deliver important messages.

The key partner will be the Cambridgeshire Constabulary and in particular the Community Safety team. Discussions have already be held with the Community Safety Officer, P.C. Gary Wimbleton as to how best we can deliver a project with an emphasis on issues related to drugs and crime.
Initial ideas are very exciting and with a successful application to the football foundation with sponsorship from Railtrack and Sportsmatch, we can enhance the potential the Community Scheme has to deliver such an important message through FOOTBALL.
I will keep you updated as to the progress we are making, however if anyone has any ideas that could help the project, know of any organisation that may wish to get involved or could increase the amount of money available with additional sponsorship, then please do not hesitate to contact me.
