If the weather is bad, will the session be cancelled?
Sessions will take place unless there are extreme weather conditions on the day of the session. On the odd occasion a session may be cancelled, you will be emailed as soon as possible but it will be no later that 3pm that day. There will also be a voice message left on the answer machine in the Youth Department (01223 729204) informing you of our decision in case you are unable to get to your email before setting off on your journey.
My son has lost an item/s of his kit?
If your son loses a part of his training kit at a session, you will need to speak to his coach the following week at the Centre. All coaches will have a bag of lost property so they will keep that with them to return. Therefore, it is essential that you name your child's garments.
What should I do if my son can't attend a session due to illness or injury?
If your son cannot attend a session or InHouse event due to illness or injury then you are asked to email youth.development@cambridge-united.co.uk prior to the event.
What should I do if my details are now different to those originally stated on the Player Profile?
If you have changed mobile number, email address, address for example then we ask that you email us with these changes as it is very important to have up to date records of each player.
What are the times and dates for all of our events?
All Development Centre and Squad dates are on the Development Centre/Squad part of the website.
Do we go on overseas tours?
Every season we invite all of our Development Centres to a tour to either Holland or Belgium during the Easter and Whitsun holidays. We also take our Development Squads away to Holland during Whitsun half term and the tours so far have been tremendously successful. Players travel and stay with parents at Centerparcs and have a great mixture between a tournament on foreign soil and being able to explore all Centerparcs has to offer. How is my son performing?
You will receive a mid season report for your son half way through the season and then again at the end of the season. Please do not speak to coaches during sessions as they are responsible for all children and there is also likely to be another session after your son's (unless they are U11/U12) If you have any major concerns then please email youth.development@cambridge-united.co.uk to organise an appointment with your coach.
Do the boys get tickets for first team games?
Although our Development Centre and Squads do not get free tickets to first team games, the Youth Department host Youth Development Days each season where the boys can watch the first team in the South Stand free of charge, additional children and parent tickets can be ordered at reduced prices at the same time. On our South Stand Days all players also take part in a lap of honour by walking around the pitch to get their applause from the U's faithful.
How do I order my kit?
To order your training kit you need to go to www.cufcshop.com, there you will find a list of sections on the left hand side; click on the one that relates to where in the scheme you are, ie Development Centre. This will then bring up the range of items that can be purchased. The minimum requirements are the training kit (top, shorts, socks) and a jumper, however Vandanel have agreed two great value packs for items bought together.
Pack A has the training kit, jumper, rain jacket and hat for £49 and Pack B has all the above plus a tracksuit, polo top and holdall for £99. Items can also be bought individually should you need to replace a lost garment etc. All orders are dispatched to your home address and any queries relating to your order must be dealt directly with Vandanel and not Youth Development.
If I play for Cambridge United FC does it mean I can't play for my Colts or Mini League team?
All Cambridge United Development Centre and Development Squad players continue to play for their club side whilst playing and training with CUYD. Only when a player is selected to play for our Centre of Excellence, are they no longer allowed to play for their club side and are solely a player of CUYD.
Do we play games for Cambridge United?
Players within our Development Squads play in the East Anglian Premiership programme at half terms against local professional Clubs from MK Dons, Norwich City, Southend United, Colchester United, Luton Town, Northampton Town, Rushden & Diamonds and Ipswich Town. These games take place during school holidays so there is no conflict with their Colts or Mini League fixtures.
Our Development Centre players take part in In-House festivals during school holidays where we invite all of our players from each individual age group to play a number of small sided games against each other. They also take part in internal games each term as part of their training syllabus.
What shall I wear to training?
All players must wear CUFC training kit to all training sessions and In-House events. All players must wear either moulded boots or astro-turf trainers. Blades are NOT permitted at any point. Players are also asked to bring a full water bottle to every training session.
