Welcome to this afternoons' Blue Square Premier match at the Trade Recruitment Stadium. Today's visitors are Eastbourne Borough whose players, supporters and officials have made the trip from the South Coast.

Eastbourne were promoted after winning the Blue Square South play-offs last season. They have coped admirably with the step up and hold a respectable mid-table position.

Likely to feature for them today are two former U's players, Danny Brown and Jack Jeffrey. Danny with his no nonsense approach is a natural leader and was our Club Captain last year. Injuries disrupted his time here, whilst Jack played during our Play-off run as a loanee from West Ham.

Also making the trip from Eastbourne is exiled Cambridge United supporter Paul Garnell and his Colts football team. Their visit has become an annual event and for the first time the U's will be playing their home town Sussex club. In his spare time, Paul helps on a turnstile at the club nearest his home, whilst listening out for the U's result.

Last Saturday's defeat at home to Forest Green Rovers brought an end to our twelve match unbeaten run. It is a measure of the high standards and consistency of Gary Brabin's team that this was only our second League defeat in 2009 and our first at home since mid-September.

The Club's Board of Directors was strengthened by two additional appointees last month. Renford Sargeant, who is well-known locally as the Chairman of Premier Holidays, rejoins the Board as a Director. Renford brings a wealth of business experience to the Club, as well as being a long-standing supporter and sponsor.

Richard Smith also rejoins the Board, this time as an Associate Director. Richard is very well connected in Cambridge after a lengthy spell on the City Council, a teaching career and as a Schoolboy Football Manager. I welcome the appointments of both men, who have remained supportive through the recent turbulent years.

There are only two weeks left to take advantage of the superb 'early purchase' deal on season tickets for next season. If you have never bought one before, then now is surely the time to get one and if you already have one, then a renewal really is a must.

In addition to being able to save up to £100 by buying now, there are extra discounts for buying for Under 16s and in particular Under 10s. The latter costs as per the Child's age i.e. only £9 for a year old.   For this you get guaranteed admission to home League games as well as priority to tickets where there is a restriction i.e. all ticket away games and Cup matches. Further details can be found elsewhere on this website.

This season we are delighted that our Youth team, playing as CRC, are through to the Final of the Cambridgeshire Invitation Cup. The match takes place here at the Trade Recruitment Stadium on Tuesday 21st April (ko 7.45pm).

Their opponents are our neighbours from across the river, Cambridge City FC, so they will be pitting their skills against rivals from a higher league. The City team includes a number of players with Cambridge United connections and it will be great to get a big crowd here backing the boys.

With the League fixtures rapidly nearing their conclusion, the time is right for everyone to remain United behind the team and give that final push towards the Play-Offs and Football League status.

Thank you for your support.
