We welcome Grays Athletic tonight and Justin Edinburgh has assembled a squad that's more than capable of challenging this season. I think Grays will be one of the dark horses and I fully expect to see them in and around the play-offs throughout the season so this evening's game is going to be a difficult one.

Grays' Chairman Mick Woodward has always put his money where his mouth is. I know that they run on one of the higher budgets in the Blue Square Premier, and that's fair play to Mick. He's always been prepared to have a go and that's why they will be a dangerous outfit this year.

If you speak to Jimmy and the lads, the important thing is to try to keep the unbeaten run going. We've had a fantastic start. You're not going beat everyone and obviously, sooner or later, we will be beaten, but the longer we can keep this run going the more the confidence flows.

What's been demonstrated in these early matches is that we've got so much courage in the team; we fight to the end and you can see that by the amount of late goals and comebacks we've been making. If we can continue to do that for the rest of the season then we're going to be hard to beat.

Jimmy was trying to get one or two players in last week to further strengthen the squad. The difficulty is that at this time of the season clubs don't want to let their players go and likewise we've had enquiries about one or two fringe players but you just can't afford to do it, you don't want to leave yourself short. So it has been difficult, but the lads that have come into the side have done a great job and long may it continue.

If anything, we're over our budget at the moment so we'd only bring players in that would make a difference, and at the moment the people that we're looking at are not available.

Danny Brown and Mark Convery should be back soon so we should be back to full strength in a couple of games or so, which means there's no point bringing anyone in if they don't improve the squad.

To be sitting joint top of the league at any stage isn't a bad thing. I do smile when people say 'you haven't won anything yet' and they're right, we haven't, but we've still done really well. I personally look at blocks of five games, and if you can get ten points out every five games then you're going to get promoted. That's what you look at; anything over ten is a real bonus and anything under... well, you don't want it too far under. So to have eleven points from the first block of five games is fantastic.

I hope everyone enjoys the match tonight; thank you for your support of the team.

Chairman
