U’s sign defender Shane O’Neill on loan from Apollon Limassol
Cambridge United have tonight signed defender Shane O’Neill on loan until the end of the 2015/16 Sky Bet League Two season, pending international clearance.
The 22-year old, who is capable of playing across all defensive positions, has joined the U’s from Cypriot side Apollon Limassol.
Irish born O’Neill, began his career by signing for the Colarado Rapids youth system in 2009 before going on to feature 52 times for the MLS outfit.
Eligible to play internationally for both Ireland and the United States, O’Neill has represented the latter at U20 and U23 level, making over 20 appearances which include honours during the 2013 U20 World Cup.
