Michael Nelson's late header secures deserved point for United

MICHAEL Nelson's 89th minute header secured a point for United at Prenton Park this evening.

The U's were down to ten when Sullay Kaikai's corner was met at the back post by Nelson, who headed past the hapless Fon Williams.

United began the game at a good pace, Michael Nelson and Josh Coulson both going close from set pieces early on.  Chris Dunn was forced into action on 19, saving well as the hosts fired in a free-kick.

Robbie Simpson almost gave United the lead just before the break, his strike from 20 yards forced Owain Fon Williams into another decent save.

United began the second half as they did the first, Appiah creating a couple of half chances for himself before Jordan Chiedozie almost scored with his first touch on 55, rifling his shot inches wide after Tom Naylor had played him in.

Shamir Fenelon was denied by Chris Dunn on the hour, he raced out to deny the Rovers' front man from close range.  Sullay Kaikai forced Fon Williams into another good stop in 70, he parried the Palace loanee's free kick out for a corner.

The game then turned on its head in a mad two minutes for United.  Cole Stockton put Tranmere in front on 75 minutes after capitalizing on a loose pass from United before Robbie Simpson was sent off for picking up his second yellow card for a late challenge.

United continued to press and the equaliser came on 89 minutes when Nelson rose at the back post to head home Kaikai's corner.
