KWESI APPIAH RETURNS TO THE U'S

10 July 2014

Kwesi Appiah joins the U's on loan

KWESI Appiah has returned to the R Costings Abbey Stadium.

The Crystal Palace striker has joined the U's on an initial six-month loan, until 10th January 2015.

Appiah, 23, made 19 appearances for the U's last season, scoring ten goals.

Kwesi will join up with the rest of the U's squad today and will make his first appearance back at United in the Absolute Sports Travel Cup.

Speaking to United Player, Kwesi said: "Obviously I was here before and had a good connection with everyone.  It was great to see the team win at Wembley in the FA Trophy and then be here at the Abbey for the play-off semi-final.  Hopefully the fans will see some more goals from me this season and hope as a team we can give them something to cheer about!

Speaking about the U's latest recruit, Director of Football, Jez George said: " From the day Kwesi arrived at this football club, he hit it off with the players, the staff and the supporters.  So since he left us, we've tried to do the best we can to bring him back.  We had to move really quickly to make this happen and despite a lot of competition for his signature from other clubs, we are delighted to have signed him until January"
