Two more players added to squad
Cambridge United's summer re-building continues, as Richard Tait and Delano Sam-Yorke sign up for the coming campaign.
Scottish defender Tait joins from Tamworth, whom he captained to safety in this season's Blue Square Bet Premier.
Despite being only 23-years-old, Tait has made over 150 appearances for The Lambs since joining them from Nottingham Forest in 2009.
The enthusiastic right-back explained why he chose to move on from Tamworth: "I met up with Richard [Money, Head Coach] and Jez [George, Director of Football] and it’s a big club at this level, so I want to go places with the club and do well. They want to try and get promoted and I want to be a part of the team that will have the ambition to try and do that next season."
Tait is already hoping for a successful campaign in his first season at the R Costings Abbey Stadium: "Personally I hope I can do well and play to the best of my ability.
"From a team point of view we're looking for promotion, either automatically or through the play-offs I'm pretty confident with the ambition Richard has got that we can mount a play-off challenge.
"I'm really looking forward to being at a new club and undertaking a new challenge. Cambridge is a big club in this league and the facilities are different class. I'm really looking forward to training every day and doing as well as I can for the club."
Sam-Yorke, 24, has spent the majority of the last three seasons at Blue Square Bet South side Basingstoke Town, where he's scored 41 goals in 92 games.
A strong forward with pace to burn, Sam-Yorke is looking forward to the challenge of claiming his place in the U's starting line-up next season: "I want to bring a lot of enthusiasm and hard work to the team and, of course, goals! I think I've got a good character and hopefully that will fit in with the team too."
Echoing the thoughts of his new colleague, Sam-Yorke cites the influence of the U’s staff and facilities as a major factor in him joining the club.
"I spoke to Richard and he sold the club to me, telling me the way they play football, how he wants me to be involved, and how I would fit in with the plans,” he explained. "I had a look at the training ground and the stadium, and I was really impressed with all of the facilities.
"I'm looking forward to meeting all the players and getting started. Hopefully we can make the play-offs or even win the league next season."
